IT’S IN THE BLOOD, Award Winning Psychological Thriller Starring Horror Icon Lance Henriksen gets World Wide Distribution
VOD Release on October 26th, 2012 ITunes/Amazon/Vudu
Filmmakers Scooter Downey and Sean Elliot are proud to announce that their first feature film, It’s In The Blood, has recently been acquired for distribution by Gravitas Ventures (North American Video On Demand) and Koan Inc. ( North American all non-digital and all rights foreign).
One year after a tragic incident tore their family apart, a grieving son (October) and his estranged father (Russell) embark on a journey into the wild to reconcile their past. When a horrifying accident leaves Russell badly injured and strands them in the wild, it is up to October to save them both. However, this wilderness is not what it seems, and as they deteriorate so does their concept of reality. Horrifying creatures, ghostly apparitions, is it all in their heads, or could the truth be far more terrible? Lance Henriksen stars in this nightmarish descent into the very heart of darkness where more than your guilt can eat you alive.
Gravitas Ventures has released more than 1000 titles, and has established itself as the largest provider of transactional independent digital content in North America. Gravitas specializes in the aggregation of entertainment content for worldwide distribution via established and evolving platforms in cable Video on Demand (VOD), broadband, mobile and the airline/hospitality industries. The company connects independent filmmakers, producers, and distribution companies to leading cable, satellite, broadband and online distribution partners.
Over the past 17 years Koan Inc. has worked hard to build a solid reputation with producers and buyers the world over. A combination of quality programming and rare business ethics sets Koan head and shoulders above their competitors. Originally a distributor of documentaries, Koan has gone on to establish a strong presence in the fields of family entertainment and award winning feature films. Koan was among the first companies to realize the power of the family market and remains one of the most trusted providers of quality programming in the world.
Best known for his roles as Karl Bishop Weyland in the Aliens franchise and Frank Black in the TV series Millennium, Lance Henriksen has amassed a resume that would put most actors to shame in a career spanning more than 50 years. Lance has worked with some of the greatest directors of all time, including James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, and Sidney Lumet, and his characters have been killed by some of Hollywood’s greatest monsters, including the Terminator, the Predator and the Alien. With 15 projects in 2011, this versatile actor shows no signs of slowing down.
A Feature Selection in numerous film festivals in 2012, It’s In The Bloodhas already won 2 Grand Prize Awards, 7 Best Picture Awards, 4 Best Actor Award, 1 Best Music Composition Award, and 2 Runner Up Awards.
It’s In The Blood will be screening at two prestigious film festivals in the months to come: Shriekfest LA and The Austin Film Festival.
Now in its 12th year, Shriekfest has established itself as one of the top Sci-Fi/Horror film festivals in the world, and has been voted by Moviemaker Magazine as one of the top 25 film festivals worth the entry fee as well as one of the top 13 film festivals to die for.
The Austin Film Festival is in its 19th year, and is renowned for bringing together some of the top talents in the industry. Past participants of the Festival & Conference include Sydney Pollack, Wes Anderson, James L. Brooks, Joel & Ethan Coen, Russell Crowe, Barry Levinson, Robert Altman, Darren Star, Robert Duvall, Buck Henry, Dennis Hopper, Lawrence Kasdan, John Landis, Claire Danes, Garry Shandling, Susannah Grant, Bryan Singer, Oliver Stone, Sandra Bullock, Jason Schwartzman, Harold Ramis and Owen Wilson, to name just a few.
It’s In the Blood is an all-together new cinematic movement. At its core a father son story, the film is a deconstruction of the prototypical ‘creature feature’, incorporating elements of mystical realism, and psychological thriller. This new movement in film is called a Psyche-Saga.
Downey Defines a Psyche-Saga as “a new movement within the film art, wherein the artist renders one story through three different domains of stylized imagery -- poetic representations of the mind, body, and spirit on a singular path of transformation.”
The Filmmakers behind It’s In The Blood are proud to have partnered with Gravitas Ventures and Koan Inc, and look forward to presenting It’s In The Blood to North America via VOD (ITunes, Amazon, and Vudu) on October 26th, 2012. Other platforms and regions will be available in the near future.
