Title: Cameron's Closet

Also known as:
N/A

Year: 1989

Genre: Horror

Language: English

Runtime: 87 min

Director: Armand Mastroianni

Plot:
Cameron is a 10 year old boy with telepathic powers. His father and doctor, who performs experiments on him, accidently releases something; something that lives in Cameron's closet. One night Cameron's father is killed in the closet, and Cameron has to move home to his mother and her bastard boyfriend. Eventually Cameron starts hearing noises in the closet, but what is it?

Our thoughts:
I found this movie when I was looking for a movie I saw as a kid. Cameron's Closet wasn't the one I was looking for, but I am still happy I bought this.

The movie obviously tries to be serious, which it does succeed with most of the time, but I felt that the plot was a little too silly, especially the scenes where you see Cameron showing off his telepathic powers. I don't know if it was how those scenes played out, or if it's just the fact that I think telepathic powers in movies is pretty silly overall, but they should've tried to make the movie without them.

The special effects were a big surprise to me, atleast the gore effects. The first kill has some loveable bloodsquirts out of a decapitated body, and the blood only got better after that. However they failed big time on the demon, he looks very stupid, but luckily we don't see him that much. Except for the stupid looking leader demon, there was also a Wolfman-wannabe-looking demon in a cave later in the movie that I thought was ridiculous, especially with the way he jumps.

The acting is fairly good. The kid looks a little gay, but he didn't annoy me which many new child actors, like Dakota Fanning, do.

The movie isn't perfect but it's worth a watch, even if it's when you're alone and bored, or when you're with friends. If you are a fan of monsters, gore or movies from the 80's, give it a shot!

Positive things:
- Good gore.
- Felt just the way a movie from the 80's should.
- The acting surprised me.
Negative things:
- Silly demon.
- Wolfman-wannabe-looking demon.
- Stupid at times.
- The ending.

Rating:
Gore: 2/5
Nudity: 0/5
Story: 2/5
Effects: 3/5
Comedy: 1/5
