In an attempt to spice up their work day and earn some extra cash, the hotel maids Mary Allen and Sally choose to have sex with the hotel's guests. Their innocent new "job" is a hit among the guests and they even get between a newly married couple.
Impulse Pictures is doing their best to bring back the pornography of the grindhouse era, and they're pretty damn solid at what they are doing. What that means, I guess, is that they bring out... porn... from that era. It's as simple as that! The exciting part is that most are titles which we haven't been able to see for a long time - or barely ever before. "The Chambermaids" is a rough, dirty little piece which serves as a prime example of '70s smut.
"The Chambermaids" isn't one of those fun, classic story-heavy pornographies. Some actually manage to be entertaining between the sex, but "The Chambermaids" barely has any filling inbetween. The story is simply about two maids who work at a hotel. They decide to sleep around with the guests to lighten their days and earn some money on the side. Their sexual adventures have them banging every man and woman who they're about to serve in other ways. This include both parts of a newly married couple - without the partner noticing.
There is a fine line between what I want to review and what I don't care to review. Sometimes I simply have nothing at all to say about the porn-heaviest of adult films. This could easily have been one of those movies, but there is something special about this mostly bland and forgettable piece of lost history. It's all in the movie's presentation. Impulse Pictures have worked hard to restore it, but it's still presented with extremely rough image, which really makes it a more interesting viewing. It throws you right into a stained chair in a '70s porn cinema.
The movie itself isn't exactly a diamond either, it's about as flawed as the quality. From having one of the two lead actresses disappear from the movie after her one sex scene, to the movie essentially being an uncredited piece of work. There's no director, producer, writer or anything credited for this movie. One would assume they didnt't want to put their name on it, but they could at least have thrown a stage name on there!
If you watch this for porn, then that's exactly what you get. It hides nothing and you might be pleased (or grossed out) by the extreme close-ups presented. Essentially, if everything about the '70s turns you on, by all means go for this movie. If you, like me, prefer watching those classic cult adult flicks with a high entertainment factor between the sex scenes, then this isn't the right movie. This is just straight up smut. You'd be better off with "Serena: An Adult Fairytale" from the same distributor.
