Plot:
A murderer is loose in the woods and two couples have decided to spend a weekend in a nearby cabin. After the arrival of a wounded stranger they understand that maybe what the cop told them about a killer in the woods isn't so far fetched after all. But who is it? Is it the stranger, or is it someone they know?

Our thoughts:
Let's be honest... I knew "Don't Let Him In" would be a bad movie when I saw the title. I don't think I need to explain that assumption further, but I guess I'm always hoping for the best. Truth is, the movie is terrible and here's why:

First of all I want to warn you for some SPOILERS! Okay, here we go... Not only is the plot extremely typical. We have two couples going to a cabin in the woods. Luckily a cop tells them there is a FUCKING SERIAL KILLER IN THE WOODS. He doesn't tell them they can't be there, it doesn't even seem like they are looking. He's just out there and that's that. The entire cop character is silly and parody-like which was beyond stupid. Don't worry, there's a "Don't go there" character as well, this time a girl who lives in the woods... Yeah. Then of course we have the introduction of a stranger. Oh my, I wonder who the bad guy might be?! Don't worry, the film knows better than to just show us he's the killer right away, instead it decides that one of the lead characters is a killer ALSO! By then we don't know the stranger is a killer (we do) so they tried to double-twist us: first by making one of the leads a killer (he was a grumpy fuck so there's no surprise) which wasn't really a twist as much as a poor plot move, and then when that killer dies the stranger is revealed to be one too. Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck you. Yes, "Don't Let Him In", I'm talking to you!

The actors are all terrible but that's because of how poorly written the characters are. There's no emotion, no intensity, no care and no one is likable at all. Not even the killers were alright - the stranger was quite possibly mentally retarded in the second half of the movie, but that was never explained. But for some reason he was drooling like fuck and made extremely annoying and silly screams. Fuck you, stranger character!

There are a couple of kills and most of them show at least some gore or blood, but don't expect it to be plentiful. The kills are often stupid and what blood we get is quickly forgotten because of it. One guy is killed by a fishing line and maggots. Yes, he gets maggots shoved down his throat. I don't even want to get into the ending, which was too sudden and just ridiculous (SPOILER: done better in "Ravenous")

"Don't Let Him In" is exactly what is wrong with modern mainstream horror. This is stupid, boring, annoying, clichéed, poorly acted, even more poorly written, not thrilling or scary and probably worst of all in a slasher - the kills suck ass. What started out as a boring slasher turned into an even worse, amateurish shitfest slasher. I definitely don't recommend "Don't Let Him In" to my readers, I know you're better than this. I love Njutafilms, I think they're the best we have in Sweden, but they are better than this too!
