The beautiful journalist Emanuelle finds traces that leads to a big prostitution business and decides to go undercover to see what juicy stories are hidden. She's sent to San Diego to work in Madame Claude's brothel, and quickly becomes a hit with the customers.
I love the Black Emanuelle movies, at least the ones I've seen prior to this one. I think there are plenty left for me to explore, so it was cool to get my hands on this one so that I could take it off of the list. "Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade" might sound like it would be harsher movie than the others, but this is most likely the easiest watch - and sometimes funniest. I don't see this as a problem as I still got to see Laura Gemser as the journalist who knows how to get the stories out of people!
To me, the story really started about 30 minutes into the movie - everything prior to that is mostly a pointless set-up. But it did bring us some great erotica! Anyway.. as soon as that first part is over with, it gets a lot more interesting because you kinda see where it's heading - to prositution! She gets in contact with a guy she noticed was involved, and pretends that she's a poor girl trying to get by. And does he have a job for her! He sends her to an exclusive brothel where she will be able to make a fortune in short time. Exclusive,.. boy, I'll say, her first client turns out to be the senator! But once she starts investigating for real information for her article, she's quickly caught and the rest.. well, you have to watch the movie for the rest!
It's not an exciting plot because it kinda keeps a slow pace until the very last part where she begins her investigation. And that's honestly fine, I enjoyed it all the same. We have plenty of sex scenes - nothing graphic, though I don't know if there is a different cut with added scenes (you never know with D'Amato, do you?). You get lots of boobs and bush, and that's plenty for me. I did enjoy the scenes especially because they were edited like montages or sorts. Made them less boring. Yet nothing groundbreaking - good ol' Italian sleaze sex, I guess. With the great Laura Gemser (the lesbian scenes are especially recommended!).
Not at all what I expected, but it's a fun movie that is well worth spending 90 minutes on. There is some questionable choice in music - the intro/outro song brought out some laughter. Just didn't expect it, I guess. Then there is the end scene, which just proves that our little perfect journalist Emanuelle pretty much is a big whore herself (like we didn't know) when she needs to ride back to L.A. and offers to pay them through sex - with a big smile on her lips. Oh you filthy, filthy whore! "Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade" is a nude good time, even though it's my least favorite of the Black Emanuelle films I've seen ("Black Emanuelle" and "Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals")
