The daughter of a very powerful corporate businessman is given three android robots to both server her and to keep her company. The young woman ends up befriending the inferior android of the three, Sukekiyo. Even though she is a human and he is a machine the two begin to develop feelings for one another. Their relationship is put to the test when the young woman's step-sister comes to assassinate her, in order to take over the family fortune.
Well I made it. The final movie in the "Nippon Splatterotics" series or at least I think it's the final movie. I could be wrong and there could be more. Fuck it, it's the last one for me and that's all that matters.
Happy days are here again
So long sad time, so long bad time
We are rid of you at last
Howdy gay times…
Woah, what now? Nevermind.
"Erotibot" is the third and possibly final movie in the "Nippon Splatterotics" series and it separates itself pretty far on the spectrum of shitty Japanese-camp movies in comparison to "Horny House of Horror" and "The Big Tits Dragon". Unlike the other two and most of these camp movies in general, "Erotibot" is not horror related - it is more of a slice-of-life parody. It takes the basic setup of the loser protagonist who is bullied, looked down upon by everyone and hates himself for being a loser. And how he has to rise to the occasion, save the day and win the heart of the unobtainable cute-hot girl who has always secretly liked him from the start. The only difference being that the protagonist (Sukekiyo - considered the inferior android of the three) and antagonists are robot servants to the daughter (who is the unobtainable cute-hot girl) of a wealthy business owner.
However, like "Horny House of Horror" and "The Big Tits Dragon", "Erotibot" is a self-aware movie whose comedy comes from poking fun and mocking the typical romance-comedy-drama movies and series that have the exact same storyline, characters and setup. So it's more or less the same shit just a different packaging BUT I found "Erotibot" to be far more enjoyable of the three movies. Even though it's that same self-aware nonsense that people have decided is oh so clever. "Erotibot" seemed to be doing it's own thing in comparison to other movies of the same caliber.
It might also have to do with the fact that the gags don't come from purposely shitty over-the-top effects, failed attempts at trying to recreate other directors style and amazingly doesn't focus much on the "erotics". There's nudity, sex and sexy sword welding women but "Erotibot" puts most of its efforts into being nothing more than a goofy and mildly retarded romance-comedy. It's not family entertainment or a date movie but it's definitely not for the crowd who wants crap like "Horny House of Horror".
Still, "Erotibot" wasn't for me because I just can't get behind these movies. The self-aware shtick is so goddamn old at this point and I'm tired of seeing people make movies that only try to be like other movies. But I would and do give "Erotibot" a round of golf-applause because it earned it for not being unbearable.
