A mother has lost her child and she knows who did it. She talks about how she and her lesbian lover moved into an apartment building where some really odd characters were living and the tragedies that happened when they were living there.
First of all, "Fine Dead Girls" is really a misleading title. It's not really something that reflects to anything that happens in the movie. That's not to say there isn't something rotten going on. This was really a dark movie from start to finish, but at the same time there are some lighter, comedic moments too. But I was constantly waiting for the dead girls, haha.
The story starts with one of our lead girls as she is accusing an old lady in a wheelchair of having kidnapped her kid. We then find out the back story to the whole thing, which begins when our two lesbian lead girls rent a place in an apartment building. The building is filled with nutjobs - not just the subtenants, but the tenants themselves are probably the craziest ones. Among them is the tenant, a grumpy old lady with a much nicer husband, their obsessed son, a hooker and a doctor who does private work. The tenant lady hates the girls and how one of them ignores her son, and when they found out they are a lesbian couple she flips out completely. Without ruining anything, this is basicly what goes on most of the movie, everything is just slowly boiling for the finale. And I must say the ending of the movie really got to me, it was depressing and unsettling, and most of all it made me hate neighbors all around, hah.
I really can't comment on the acting in this one at all. Unlike another film I reviewed recently, "Zusje", there was nothing distinct about the acting in this one that I could say was bad or good. But it certainly didn't bother me, so I suppose that's good. And of course, every neighbor did a great job at making me hate them at least, so that's something.
It's not a shocking movie but if you manage to get into the lives of the people, you will probably feel a bit bad towards the end, and maybe some anger as well. The characters in the film really make you hate them and it's a powerful feeling when a movie succeeds with that. I highly recommend this to everyone who enjoys their drama films extra dramatic.
