Plot:
Everyone likes to dream big, and Tommy Pistol wants to be on the top. His girlfriend takes their child and leaves him because he doesn't care about them as much as he cares about trying to become an actor. On a lonely night, while waiting for a hot dog in the microwave, Tommy is penis-pumping in front of a porno when he falls asleep and starts dreaming about a life of acting in L.A.

Our thoughts:
I can't say I expected too much out of "The Gruesome Death of Tommy Pistol". All I really hoped for was that it would be a stupid, funny, independent movie. I haven't enjoyed the last couple of silly indies I've watched, be it the boring "Freaky Farley" or the much over-rated, annoying "The Taint". The trailer for this movie gave me some hope for a laugh, it seemed to be a film that would tickle me in just the right places. And just a few minutes into this anthology I knew my expectations were spot on.

You can call this a standard film if you will, but I think it's more like anthology in the way the three dreams don't connect except that they are about filmmaking. Basicly the story is about Tommy Pistol after his family leaves him because he only puts energy into becoming an actor. One night he falls asleep while pumping his penis and watching porno on the TV, and he starts to dream. His first dream is (titles taken from the official Facebook page) entitled "Snuff Said", and it has Tommy going to L.A. to star in a movie that he saw an ad for on FuckedByDeath.com. When he gets there it turns out that they weren't looking for an actor at all, but someone who could kill girls on tape. Tommy being as stupid as he is still believes it's all just film, even though they basicly tell him the truth from the start. This one features some fantastic splatter scenes, my favorite being when he pulls out a girl's heart out of her tittie. This one also features some of the funniest stuff in the entire movie, and thus it is my favorite of the bunch.

Following that one is "10 Minutes of Fame", where Tommy sneaks into a movie production and works his way (by either tricking people or killing them) to become the PA of the star - Arnold Schwarzenegger. But is that all he wants? No, he kills Arnold and steals his skin so that he can dress up as him. Things don't really work out as planned when everyone already knows what he did. This one is really weird, but I got a kick out of seeing him run around as Arnold and having the face mask actually look like the skin of Arnold. But it's my least favorite.

Finally we have the grossest, "Attack of the Staph Spider" (I think). In this one Tommy is a porn director and his lead actress is bitten by a spider in the alley. A radioactive one. She starts getting boils all over her legs and infects the rest of the crew. Meanwhile Tommy still wants to complete his movie, and has her rubbing along in front of the camera even though her face is filled with snot and her legs are covered in boils and pus. Told you it was gross! This one also features the most graphic nudity. "Snuff Said" had some boobs but that's it, this one has the lead actress completely in the nude, rubbing herself. Sound awesome? Think again - remember that she's covered in pus, slime, boils, snot and blood.

If you are a fan of films like "Hanger" or Troma productions, then you will probably like this one. I personally felt that the first segment felt like if Lloyd Kaufman directed "Srpski Film", and I'm sure you're interested to see how that turned out! The movie is stupid as hell but it knows exactly how to play with the comedy to make it work. This is where most of these films fail, they just don't manage to deliver the jokes. "The Gruesome Death of Tommy Pistol" is one hell of a crazy movie, I'm pretty sure I will have to wait a few days before I can watch a porno again unless I wanna get pictures of boils in my head.

Positive things:
- Caleb Emerson who plays the redneck Carl Jr. in "Poultrygeist" as the Snuff Boss was fantastic. Also note the "Poultrygeist" prop in the last segment.
- Aramis Sartorio did a great job as Tommy Pistol.
- Stupid but funny as hell!
- Actually has some clever jokes.. In a stupid sense.
- Anthologies are always fun.
- Gross, but actually has some great FX!
Negative things:
- The second segment got a bit boring.

Rating:
Gore: 2.5/5
Nudity: 3/5
