Title: Killer Yacht Party

Also known as:
Dead in the Water (Original title)

Year: 2006

Genre: Horror / Slasher

Language: English

Runtime: 85 min

Director: Piotr Uzarowicz

Writer: April Wright & Alex Silver

IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494218/

Plot:
There's a party about to be had on a yacht. Only hand-picked people are invited, mostly consisting of busty ladies. But the yacht has a horrible past and it's coming back to haunt them when there's no way for them to escape..

Our thoughts:
This was crap. I mean, Troma release crap. That's what they do best. And I respect Troma for that, and that they keep on going. But sometimes I just wonder why they pick some of their titles. I mean, I get why they release "Maniac Nurses Find Ecstasy", "Blood Hook" and even "Teenage Catgirls In Heat" (but not "Zombie Island Massacre"). I haven't kept up with most of the titles they've released for the most recent years, but are they anything like "Killer Yacht Party" then I'm not interested in checking them out either. But hey, they're giving some poor director a chance to get a movie out there and that's cool. It's like charity, so at the very least it might help them sleep better at night!

What else would you expect from a movie where a bunch of people go to party on a yacht, than it having a killer on board? I don't think there's anything else needed to be said about the story because that's what it is. Never mind the fact that it takes about an hour till it turns into the slasher that it really is. You would think the first our would work on getting a plot together but what we get could've been told in 15 minutes. The last part of the movie does carry some kills but many of them are off screen, and the ones we get to see aren't very interesting mostly because of the poor editing technique they used to make it easier for them (cut to flashes of black so they could cut to the gore). You might not be able to figure out the ending but that's only because it's stupid. And we don't care. Fuck off!

The little gore we have is alright, it's just a shame that they even failed at doing what a slasher should do - give us fun kills. Nothing is of interest here, the closest we get to satisfaction is seeing a throat cut with wire, and that's far from great anyway. In terms of the nudity, there's really just one or two pairs of taa-taas shown. I guess when you take a slasher and cut out fun kills, nudity and a scary killer, you're left with "Killer Yacht Party".

To be honest, it's not the worst you could find. But really, there is nothing to see here. I have nothing to say about it that would make it worth getting, and what makes me feel worse is that because the movie is so standard shit, I feel my review has nothing to say except for standard shit. I don't care if you are the biggest slasher fan and you want it all, this is barely a slasher. And it also tries to add a supernatural element to it but once the murders start happening you know that there's no need to think about it anymore. I think I only enjoyed a second of the movie, and that was when I misheard what a character said, thinking he said something funny and completely random. Sadly it was on topic and boring. Skip!

Positive things:
- Nada.
Negative things:
- It's just not worth watching this movie for any reason. Even if it's not complete shit, it just doesn't do anything you need to see.
- It's not even your typical shitty Troma.

Rating:
Gore: 1.5/5
Nudity: 1/5
