Our thoughts:
Lorenzo Lepori is an interesting guy to receive review copies of. It appears that he enjoys getting reviews, no matter if they are positive or negative, and happily sends more films. Now, I don't know if he genuinely doesn't care or if he just wants his movies to get attention, but for a reviewer it's a nice change of pace. I never want to give a movie a bad review before watching it, but I also won't lie. Lorenzo Lepori doesn't seem to mind either way, and it makes it easier to mail over the reviews.

Somewhere between classic Italian horror and crime thrillers, "Resurrection in Blood" is a bit of a gangster horror. When a mobster loses his lover, a woman deep into occultism, he flips out. He's heartbroken and desperate to resurrect her. He gets a prostitute's body to ressurect her in, but it's just not that easy. His son is going nuts and has his men going on a killing spree for him. The movie's focus is really just random killing while a man tries to ressurect his lover. It never goes anywhere truly interesting with the story, and just keeps running in a wheel like a blood soaked hamster.

One thing is for sure, Lorenzo Lepori is very interested in mixing some classic Italian genres in an independent brawl. There's frequently mobsters/gansters, something supernatural, bloody violence and a bunch of sex/perversities. "Resurrection in Blood" is a production where everything with wrong, which he has admitted. I don't think production issues is the reason I didn't like the movie, since to me it was actually more consistent than some of the other films by Lepori. However, I wouldn't say it's his best. The version I watched is a brand new cut, so that might be why it was more consistent.

As I said, plenty of blood and sex here. The sex isn't really exciting, though we do get some ladies showing their boobies (and they don't look too bad!). Due to being a mobster flick, the sex is usually of some "bad ass boss" getting a blowjob from a random chick. I wouldn't say it's a graphic movie or very sexy, though. The blood/gore is quite fun for the most part. It's obviously amateur stuff, yet there are some interesting attempts here and there. For the budget, Lepori often goes as far as he can with this stuff and that's a joy.

"Resurrection in Blood" isn't a very good movie, but if you are interested in watching it then you should try and get the brand new cut of it. It's better than a lot of indie genre-benders, but I feel like I have watched the similar movie before from Lepori. I guess it's part of his style, so I don't blame him, but it doesn't win me over. I am still waiting for a great movie from him, as I am sure he will eventually get it right. He has the potential and the balls to do it.

Positive things:
- Some boobies.
- While effects aren't always great, the attempts are ambitious.
- Maybe Lepori's most consistent feature.
Negative things:
- Doesn't have a very good story arc.
- I'm not a big fan of mixing the thriller aspect with horror the way he does it.
