After the suicide of Mark's lover, he is diagnosed with prostate cancer and is told that he only has a short time left to live unless he undergoes an operation. He decides to visit the island where he first met his old lover and gets into the loving life style with the people there and gets involved in multiple sex affairs. But at the same time he is starting to see things of the past - his dead girlfriend. Is she back or is it all in his head?
I ended my "Orgasmo nero" review asking if I should check out "Porno Holocaust", because it's sometimes known as "Orgasmo nero 2". Well, here I am now with review copies of both "Orgasmo nero 2" and "Orgasmo nero 3". I'm starting with this one since they don't really share the story and I want to save the most interesting one for later. I'm just happy to be able to get through most of these One 7 Movies releases. This one (I'll call it "Sesso nero") wasn't all that bad - it's basicly porn with a "fun" climax scene.
We're treated to a story that is just dying to dive into the fucking. Our lead man, Mark (played by Mark Shannon) has just been diagnosed with severe prostate cancer, so he takes off to the island where he met his now dead girlfriend. When he originally left the island she committed suicide, and now he starts seeing her everywhere. But to deal with his hallucinations, or whatever they actually are, and the fact that he will soon have to face death, he is sleeping around with every woman he meets. Oh sorry, everyone but the chubby girl. Don't worry though, she gets it elsewhere!
I was happy to see that the pornographic images were intact (since I haven't seen any other cuts of the movie, I don't know if there are any with more or less of it either) - we get pussy, cocks, cocksucking and some penetration (most sex scenes are from behind and we don't see anything but a profile view, but there are some graphic ones!). In movies like these where the plots are secondary you really need the graphic sex to spice it up a little. It makes for a more entertaining movie! You could skip them and just enjoy the bland story about a man who has started seeing his dead girlfriend, while screwing around with others, but it would probably bore you. There's nothing captivating in the story other than the last couple of minutes where he not only dreams that he is having the operation (cutting off his cock), but the truth behind the "ghost of his dead girlfriend" is also revealed. It's topped off with a short sex scene and a nice little climactic end shot. Nothing great, but it worked perfectly to something somewhat shocking in such an otherwise harmless movie!
There are some scenes in the movie that I think makes it an entertaining watch if you know you are getting into a Joe D'Amato film. The sex, obviously, is plentiful. There's a silly and almost gross dance scene where a skinny, flamboyant guy dances with a woman and they undress. If he is gay or just really.. something, I don't know, but he is hilarious yet creepy. And has a small penis. George Eastman, who also wrote the movie, has a cameo and he's always a fun watch! The end scene features both graphic sex and a short shot of graphic violence. It's a good and effective shot, but sadly too brief. But I think it'll be something fans of D'Amato's darker films would appreciate.
Other than that, this is a very standard D'Amato sleaze film. It won't take you by surprise in the same way that a film like "Beyond The Darkness" did for me, but fans of his work have no reason to skip this one (unlike "Sexy Pirates"!). It's porn with a mystery story. The back cover of this release says it's "celebrated as the first official hardcore outing in Italian cinema". Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but if it is then there's some historic reason to watch it as well, right? Know what to expect and you can check it out - the same usually goes for these old sleaze directors like D'Amato, Rollin, Franco. If you've seen their work then you know what it is, and if you are the person for them or not.
