To reveal himself from the anxiety of the upcoming test in school, a young man overdoses on drugs and ends up in an alternative world. In this world he meets a pretty girl and together they start killing people while having the time of their lives.
I've been slightly judgemental about the titles that I have recieved from the company "One 7 Movies" and not because I have anything against them in general (although their releases are 3000 miles from impressive) but because the titles I get sent look like such generic erotica. And that's fine but awfully boring at times. I prefer the ones that spice it up a bit. So that's why I, when I was about to sit down and watch "Transgression", got a head full of boredom just touching the disc. I knew the following 84 minutes would be a chore to get through. Oh, how wrong was I? This was not just boring erotica. In fact, it was barely erotica at all.
It starts out with out lead guy just before he is shooting his arm up with drugs to get rid of his angst. He then trips out and lands in an alternative world where he is a hitcher getting picked up by a wealthy old man who then offers him to stay at his place. The old man has a plan - he wants this young man to help him with his daughter. But little did he know that when they fall in love he'd end up being their first victim. For no obvious reasons, the pair begin to pick up people only to kill them off in semi-seductive ways, sometimes even with intercourse first. They are indeed madly in love.
When the story kicked off within his drug trip the movie really got great. Dark comedy mixed with some thriller kills and some softcore erotic scenes in between. But then he comes out of his trip and the movie gets slow and boring again. Even if just for 10-20 minutes before the finale, which was alright. It's a shame that the movie started out the way it did and not just took place in that alternative world from the get go (of course, that means it wouldn't be an alternative world) as it was far more entertaining just being a couple in love killing people off. Oh and don't worry, I will mention "Psychos In Love", which came out a year before this one and was superior to this in every way. I wouldn't be surprised if the people behind "Transgression" watched that one though, the atmosphere reminded me a lot of "Psychos In Love". With much less comedy, though.
The kills are weak in terms of blood and visuals, but that's not what the movie is about. It's watching these two kill people off with such pleasure and doing it together that is fun. It has a few brief blood scenes but that's about it. As for the boobs, asses and vaginas... it could've had a lot more of that. One 7 Movies labeled this "erotica" and nothing else and that's false advertising since out of all the ingredients, erotica is the thinnest. But yes, there are some good softcore scenes that are only there to arouse and nothing else.
"Transgression" offers some originality to the softcore genre. Even though the originality it has isn't original in itself, it feels fresh when added to a movie that I had expected to be just another erotica. And let's not forget that it gets really weird and trippy at times, like inserted clips of clowns playing with umbrellas, or when the lead plays piano but instead of playing to notes, he has a porno magazine. It's a fun movie if you can get past the first part. Things start to really get fun when the killings begins, but sadly I would say that every other aspect of the film makes it far less entertaining than I think they could've made it. But it's a much recommended late 80's softcore thriller that isn't all too serious and won't require all of your attention to make it worth checking out. I was surprised by it!
